Betty Lou Ludlow Ellis, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at her home. She is finally free from pain.
She was born July 10, 1931 in Annis, Idaho, the third and youngest child of William Ludlow and Gertrude Mary Bruce Ludlow. She had very fond memories of spending time with her cousins at her grandparents’ farm in Menan, Idaho. Her father passed away when she was four years old. Betty graduated in 1949, a proud Red Devil from Rigby High School. She has remained close to many of her classmates through the years and always enjoyed the class reunions and visits from those friends.
On June 19, 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, George Ruben Ellis, of LaBelle, Idaho. They would have been married 63 years in two weeks. George has lovingly and devotedly cared for her these past many years as she dealt with several medical issues. In 1974 their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She is a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many years of service in the Relief Society and as a ward librarian. She loved the sisters that she served with.
Betty worked her entire adult life, first at C.C. Andersons in downtown Idaho Falls and then for many years as a teller for First Security Bank. She made many friends through the bank and never went anywhere that she did not meet someone she knew from working at the bank.
She loved spending time with George, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband George; their children; Dennis (Brenda) of Idaho Falls, Ron (Trina) Ellis of Santaquin, Utah, Wade (Terie) Ellis, of Idaho Falls, Sharilee (Larry) Shults, of Aurora, Colorado and Ryan (Carma) Ellis of Ammon, brother; Kenneth (Myrt) Ludlow, of Idaho Falls, sisters-in-law; Lorna Collette, of Idaho Falls, Betty (Lynn) Ferguson Reiman of Ririe, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Bruce Ludlow, sister-in-law; Norma Ludlow, and grandsons; Steven Ellis and Cory Ellis.
The family expresses their gratitude to the members of the Idaho Falls 21st Ward for their service and many kindnesses over the years and to the Western Visiting Nurses, Hearts for Hospice, and the many friends who visited these past several years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Idaho Falls 21st Ward LDS Chapel, 1155 1st Street, Idaho Falls.
