Evaleen Nielsen Hogg, 68, of Garfield, died at her home Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from complications following surgery.
She was born January 4, 1938, at Murray, Utah a daughter to Elmer Ray Nielsen and Eva Sarah Orton Nielsen. When she was 8 years old, she moved with her family to Burley, Idaho where she attended Burley Schools. In high school she was involved in various activities such as music, art and student government, graduating in 1956. She then attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and pursued a degree as a nutritionist. There she dated Gale Hogg, also of Burley, whom she married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 27, 1958. They lived in various rural locations in Jefferson and Bonneville counties. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous positions, principally in the Primary organization. After her children were raised she was employed outside the home working with the elderly and handicapped. Later she enjoyed working as a cook in the Bonneville School District. She is survived by her Husband Gale Thomas Hogg of Garfield, 8 children David (Gloria) Hogg of Rigby, LeeAnn (David) Hansen of Kaysville, Utah, Thomas Lynn (Candie) Hogg of Boise, Eric (Susan) Hogg of Greenfield, Wisconsin, Shellie Ballard of Idaho Falls, Shawna (Brandon) Harvey of Meridian, Idaho, Sheri Hogg of Rigby, Kathleen Hogg (Victor Tackett - fiancée) of Tucson, Arizona, 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, a half sister Lynda Nielsen Floyd of Eagle, Idaho and a step brother, Kay Nielsen of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at the Garfield LDS Church, 71 N. 3700 E., Rigby, with Bishop Kent Bradley officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday, from7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery.
