Amelia Cuevas Torres, 95, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family, on January 14, 2024.
She was born on October 8, 1928 in Donna, Texas to Josefa and Guadalupe Cuevas.
Amelia married Jesse Torres on November 7, 1953 in Baylor County, Texas. Together, they have nine children: Maria, Diana, Peggy, John, Rolando, Arnoldo, Ernest, Jesse and Peter.
During her life, Amelia worked and the Potato Warehouse, and mostly was a homemaker.
Amelia enjoyed cooking, and absolutely no one could touch her amazing Spanish rice. In the summer she loved sitting on her swing in the sun.
Amelia loved her 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren very much.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jesse Torres, her parents, Guadalupe Cuevas Munoz and Josefa Trevino Cuevas, 2 brothers Arnulfo Cuevas and Arthuro Cuevas, 2 sisters Antonia Cuevas, Amalia Cuevas.
Amelia is survived by her children: John (Sharry) Cuevas of Rigby, Rolando (Susan) Torres of Menan, Maria Torres of Menan, Diana (Rhett) Watson of Menan, Peggy (Brian) Wixom of Blackfoot, Arnoldo (DaniSue) Torres of Texas, Ernest Torres of Idaho Falls, Jesse Jr. (Vicki) Torres of Menan, and Peter Torres of Menan; and a sister Adelina Cuevas, and 2 brothers Americo Cuevas and Armando Cuevas, Amelia has 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
We as family thank the Hospice of Eastern Idaho for the care and love of our mother and father.
Funeral services for Amelia will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main St. Rigby ID 83442). A viewing will precede the service at Eckersell's from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
