Aaron J. Fife

Aaron J. Fife was born on December 30, 1925 to Aaron C. and Jessie Fife in Lewisville, Idaho. He was the oldest of eleven children. He passed away at home in Rigby, Idaho, August 2, 2012, at the age of 86, after a series of strokes. Aaron attended school in Lewisville, until his junior year. He then went to Seattle to work for Boeing aircraft. After four months, his father became ill and Aaron returned home to help with the family farm. The next fall he moved to Rigby and finished school there. While attending school he participated in band, a radio class and received awards in penmanship. In June of 1944, he enlisted in the Navy. He finished 6th out 50,000 men on a two mile cross country course at Farragut and qualified as a marksman. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign was honorably discharged in June 1946. He worked for many years in mechanical and farm related jobs. He worked at the Arco Site as a Mail and Records Supervisor for 18 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a faithful home teacher. He loved to serve in the temple. He and his wife Cecelia were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 20, 1969. He could make anything grow. He had a real gift for nurturing both plants and animals. In 1963 he received the grassman of the year award. His greatest joy was his family. He loved the outdoors and found pleasure in hunting, and fishing. He loved to paint and draw. He participated in the Rigby Art Guild and greatly enjoyed his associations there. Aaron was never one to sit back and watch things happen. He took an active part in civic affairs. If he thought something was wrong he got up and did something about it. He was continually writing letters to his civic leaders and was instrumental in building the Senior Citizens Center in Rigby. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cecelia Moser Fife; eight siblings, Glenda Kidwell; DuWayne Fife (Dina); Kenneth Fife (Dorothy); Roy Fife (Helen); Darwin Fife (Marilyn); Ronald Fife (Sheila); Paul Fife (Cheryl); Karen Jenson (Tom), four daughters, Evelyn (Harold) Morse Prineville, Oregon; Christine Close, Ogden, Utah; Melody Averett, St. George, Utah; Lori Ricks (Deron) Rigby, one son, Michael Fife (Amanda), Nampa, and a stepdaughter Barbara Smith; eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron C. and Jessie Fife, two sisters, ElDora Miller and Colleen Gneiting and three of his children, Brett, Sharon, Alan and one stepson Larry. Funeral services will be held Monday August 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby Stake Center 258 W. 1st N. The family will visit with friends, Sunday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. both at the Stake Center. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
