Lee Albert, “AB” Drake, 71, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 2, 1938, in Lorenzo, Idaho, to Ira Albert Drake and Nettie Perry Drake. He attended Rigby Elementary School and Rigby Junior High. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in August, 1961. He was a Master Carpenter and Brick Layer. He worked several jobs, making many life-long friends along the way. He never married, but did have a long term relationship & friendship with Maxine Anderson, of Rigby.
AB was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and spending time with his family and especially his three wonderful grandchildren, Colby Atkinson 17, Caden Atkinson, 12 and Caylee Atkinson, 10. He also had a special connection with their dog, Stormy.
Survivors include his forever friend, Maxine Anderson, of Rigby, Children, Lana (Vern) Atkinson, of Archer, Cindy (Dennis) Gilson, of Rigby, Monte (Brandy) Anderson, of Rigby, brother, Paul (Luella) Drake, of Rigby, sister, Marsha Jean Drake, of Rigby, grandchildren, Colby, Caden & Caylee Atkinson, of Archer, Denise (Justin) Harrison, of Rexburg, Michael Gilson, of Rigby, John & Blake Anderson, of Rigby, and two great-grandchildren, Hayden & Hattie Harrison, of Rexburg, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Francis and Elwin Drake, and a sister Verla Hoopes.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
