Ada Aften Christensen

Ada Aften Christensen, age 73, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Ada was born on March 21, 1935 a daughter of Alvin Edwin Nebeker and Rebecca Bee Bee Rosezelle Runolfson Nebeker. She attended school in Rigby and also attended nursing school. Ada married Barttlet Cordon Whitaker in Idaho Falls. He preceded her in death. She married Dennis Neils Christensen on September 20, 1960 in Shelley, Idaho. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and the Icelandic Association. In her lifetime she enjoyed crocheting, fishing, genealogy, an avid gardner, and sketched a dress for an inaugural gown that she received a presidential award for and it is in the Smithsoian. Ada is survived by children Reita Marrie Imeson of Shelley, Rebecca Ester Rosezelle (Stacy) Freeman of Idaho Falls, Afton Ann (Troy) Coles of Idaho Falls, Daniel Austin Whitaker of Shelley, Bart Elwood Whitaker of Idaho Falls, William Neils Christensen of Idaho Falls, Alvin Dennis Christensen of Idaho Falls, Wesley Kay (Quinn) Christensen of Eagle, Idaho Betty Jane Carlson of Shelley, Bill Dockstader of Portland, Oregon, Roger Steven (Janie) Christensen of Idaho Falls, Shirley Jean (Klaus) Kunkel of South Jordan, Utah, sister Josephine Billie Cutler of Opportunity, Montana, brothers Jack (Margaret) Nebeker of Lost Creek, Montana, Joe (Diane) Nebeker of Idaho Falls, Kay (Linda) Nebeker of Oklahoma, Douglas Nebeker of Idaho Falls, John (Cindy) Nebeker of Orem, Utah, Vaughn Nebeker of Rigby, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ada was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters, and one son. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Idaho Falls 18th Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel and prior to the service on Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
