Our beloved and dear Afton Broulim, age 96 of Rigby, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family Sunday, September 16, 2007.
She was born January 16, 1911 at Rigby, a daughter of William A. Tall, and Belle Kinghorn Tall. She was raised and attended schools in the Rigby area. She was a graduate of Rigby High School and continued her education at Ricks Academy where she earned her Teaching Certificate. She taught grades three through seven at Rigby.
December 28, 1936, she married Charles Broulim in S.L.C. Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. She was actively involved in the Broulim’s Supermarket Grocery Store along with her husband and family.
Afton was an active member of the L.D.S. Church where she served in leadership positions in the Relief Society and Young Women’s Association, she enjoyed singing, genealogy, gardening, needle point, quilting, cooking demonstrations, candy making, home beautification, being a home maker, mother, and grandmother. She was lovingly called Nanny Broulim.
She is survived by a daughter, Marcia (Paul) Ann Stosich of Vancouver, WA, a son, Richard (Vonnie Lue) Broulim of Rigby, nine grandchildren, twenty- two great-grandchildren and one great-great grand child.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and five brothers.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Rigby Stake Center, with Bishop John Schell, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
