Afton Idell Mitchell

Afton Idell Mitchell, 96, of Idaho Falls, Idaho died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the Life Care Center in Idaho Falls. Afton was born February 3, 1908 in Annis, Idaho the daughter of Warren Lester Merrill and Mary Idell Hall Merrill. She was raised and attended school in Annis and Rigby. Afton married Richard Mitchell on July 20, 1929 in Rigby, Idaho. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, camping, fishing and her grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter Dorothy Brown of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Richard (Delpha) Mitchell of Rigby, Idaho, one sister Ellen Drake of Lorenzo, Idaho, 2 Brothers Nathan Merrill of Ammon, Idaho and Lloyd Merrill of Annis, Idaho, 11 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren. Afton was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Jennie Robinson and Elaine Hogan, and two brothers Lester Merrill and Vene Merrill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday night from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and prior to the services at from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
