Alan Haws, 78 of Idaho Falls, died at his home, Sunday, June 1, 2008. He was born June 6, 1929, at Newdale, a son of Rayman Haws and Mary Olive Dodson Haws. He was raised in Newdale and attended schools in Sugar City. He continued his education at Ricks College. He enlisted in the US Army February 27, 1951, and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict, he was honorably discharged October 25, 1956. On June 4, 1954 he married Aleeta A. Haws in Rigby; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He farmed in Southeastern Idaho and the Columbia Basin in Washington, and was a School Bus Driver for the Jefferson School District. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Secretary in the Elders Quorum and in the Sunday School Presidency. He was a life time member of the Rigby V.F.W., and longtime 4-H Livestock Leader. Alan was an avid fly fisherman and hunter and enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Aleeta Haws of Idaho Falls, three daughters Alana (Alan) Jensen of Shelley, Tamara (Jeffry) Cox, of Rigby, Lynette (John) Sawyer of Eagle, a son, Randall (Shellee) Haws of Idaho Falls, two sisters, Irene (Ed) Ross of Ephrata, WA, Georgia Haws, of Idaho Falls, a brother, Rayman (Jane) Haws Jr. of Tucson, AR, seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Ammon 15th Ward Chapel, with Bishop Brett Acor, conducting. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, Military Rites by Jefferson Veterans Team.
