Alan W Wolfensberger, 65 of Rigby, died suddenly of heart failure at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Monday, August 1, 2011.
He was born May 25, 1946, in Rigby, to Henry Otto Wolfensberger and Verna Wood Wolfensberger. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School with the class of 1964. He also attended Ricks College.
He served in the Idaho Army National Guard with the 116th Engineer Battalion and was deployed for active duty to Vietnam from 1968-1969 as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He married Sandra Widerburg and together they had 2 children, Alene and Dustin. They later divorced. He married Ruth Moir, and with this union he gained a daughter, Julie. They later divorced. On June 9, 1992 he married Sharon Frazier in Rigby, adding 5 children; Debbie, Monica, Darin, Jon, and Thad and two grandchildren, David and Nichole, whom he raised as his own.
Alan learned to work hard at a young age, raising livestock and contracting with farmers to buck and harvest their hay. In his adulthood he worked for Kraft as a milk truck driver, and for several years as an independent truck driver, hauling hay all over the valley with Kilgore being one of his favorite areas. Later he worked for Boise Cascade as a delivery truck driver. He retired in 2008. His dream retirement included a sweet wife, Sharon, his two dogs and best friends, Patch and Max, a big screen TV, a large lawn tractor and plenty of water to keep his grass green. Alan loved all of his family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wolfensberger of Rigby, children; Alene Wolfensberger, of Wisconsin City, Wisconsin, Dustin Wolfensberger, Julie Duke, and Debbie Vazquez, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Monica (Tom) Foster, Jon (Salli) Chadwick and David Chadwick of Rigby, Idaho, Darin Chadwick, of Boise, Idaho, Thad (Nicole) Frazier, of West Jordon, Utah, and Nichole Chadwick, of Ririe, Idaho. Sister, GayLynn (Randy) Rolfe, of Rigby, Idaho, brother, Bill (Rhea) Wolfensberger of Rigby, 27 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Judy Griffitts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2011, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, with Bishop Robert Clarke, Conducting. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday evening and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to funeral services Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
