Alberta Smuin, age 87, of Terreton, died Tuesday, April 03, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. She was born February 29, 1920, in Vernal, Utah, a daughter of Ezra Coleman Boren and Bertha Ann Kendall Boren. She was raised and attended school in Vernal, Utah and Baggs, Wyoming. She met, fell in love and married Thomas Franklin Smuin on May 8, 1937 in Vernal, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized on May 24, 1949 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After their marriage they moved to Terreton where they reached their dream of owning a farm. They spent their lives together farming until Thomas preceded her in death on May 15, 1984. She enjoyed handwork.
She is survived by her children, Arland (Carol) Smuin of Kemmerer, Wyoming, Evelyn (Wallace) Wilding of Idaho Falls, Tom (Joy) Smuin of Soda Springs, John (Karen) Smuin, Lorenzo (Bonita) Smuin, Lanore (Pat) Jones all of Monteview, Lorna (Steve) Bennett of Pocatello, Dewey (Linda) Smuin of Terreton, and Vivian Cervantes of Idaho Falls, three sisters Lula, Lela, and Wanda, 45 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Thomas, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Terreton L.D.S. Stake Center in Terreton. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby and prior to the service at the Stake Center from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery.
