Alfred Vernon Ball, Jr., age 71, of Monteview, died at Mount Vernon Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Tuesday, April 24, 2007.
A.V. was born May 19, 1935 at Rigby, a son of Alfred Vernon Ball Sr. and Ruey Allen Ball. He graduated form Rigby High School. His education was continued at Brigham Young University for one year and Utah State University for three years. He married LaRae Moss, September 18, 1959 at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He farmed and ranched in the Monteview area for 47 years. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served a mission for three years and three months to Japan, served as Sunday School President, Elders Quorum President, on the Stake High Council and as Bishop of the Monteview Ward. He served in the community as a Voting Precinct Volunteer and on the Board of Directors of the Fremont Wool Growers.
He is survived by his wife LaRae Ball of Montiview, two daughters: Julie Murphy and Annette (Kerry) Howell both of Idaho Falls; three sons: Jeffrey Vernon (Tresa) Ball of Meridian, Idaho, Alfred William (Kris) Ball of Boise, Idaho, and David Lawrence (Katie) Ball of Monteview, Idaho; two sisters; Ruey Larene Evans of Idaho Falls and Jennie Ahlstrom of Boise; one brother John Rial Ball of Lewisville; and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monteview LDS Chapel with Bishop Waid Stoneberg officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery.
