Alice Elsie Call

Alice Call, 98, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was born as Alice Elsie Thompson on October 4, 1917 at Ekalaka, Montana a daughter to George James Thompson and Ivy Goodell Thompson. Seven children were born to this union: Beulah, Bert, Floyd, George, Alice and James. Alice proudly graduated from Carter County High School in 1935 in Ekalaka, Montana. She met Einer Christensen, who was from Denmark and hardly spoke English, in Ekalaka where he was driving a truck delivering mail and supplies. Alice worked for about five years then moved to Roberts where her sister, Beulah and A.D. Strain lived. Einer came out and they were married about 1939. They had four children and are survived by Delwin Christensen and Eula (Lynn) Nickell both of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Fae (Terry) Radford of LaBelle, Idaho, Dwight (Greta) Christensen of Arroyo Grande, California. They also have thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. After the Teton Flood damaged their home in Roberts, Alice and Einer moved to Idaho Falls. Einer died May 12, 1980. Alice met Kennith Call in December of 1990 at a dance in Ririe. They were married March 24, 1990 and Alice joined the Call family. Kennith died of a heart attack on March 27, 2009. Alice moved to an apartment in Rigby and then moved to Lincoln Court in 2009. She was the oldest living member of the Roberts Community Church in Roberts. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Snake River Post #1004. She worked for Idaho Potato Growers for 16 years in Idaho Falls and in the Rigby School District for 7 ½ years. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, crocheting and aerobics. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands one sister and five brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission or the Roberts Community Church Memorial Fund.
