Alice Griffeth Hansen

February 22, 1932 — August 21, 2014

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Alice Griffeth Hansen, 82, of Rigby, Idaho, passed peacefully away in her home Thursday, August 21, 2014, on her 64th wedding anniversary, surrounded by her family. She was born January 22, 1932, in Preston, Idaho, to Rachel and Thurman Griffeth. She is survived by her husband Earl E. Hansen; children: Shauna (Fred) DeCoria of Kennewick, WA; Marlin (Lori) Hansen of Rigby; Janette (Evan) Connell of Roach, MO; Marcene (Kim) Davids of Rigby; David (Joni) Hansen of Rigby; Julene (Clark) Scott of Idaho Falls; Diane (Ralph) Downey of Pueblo, CO; Steven (Trena) Hansen of Rigby; Marie (Peter) Light of Billings, MT; sisters: JoAnn (Edwin) Hendrickson of Weston, ID; Mareen (Kay) Hodges of Dayton, ID; Esther Winn of Preston, ID; 54 grandchildren and 112 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers. Alice loved school and loved learning. She graduated Salutatorian of her high school class. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings. She was currently a member of the Rigby 8th Ward. Along with her husband and 2 daughters, she served in the Idaho Falls Temple for over 9 years. She also served as President of the Jefferson Hills Ladies Golf Association. Alice loved music and was an extremely talented musician. Alice and Earl formed the Olsen Hansen Rhythm Rockers Dance Band. She co-hosted a radio show with Earl on KID Radio in Idaho Falls. She had many talents and hobbies. Her greatest calling and service in life was that of motherhood. We will miss her dearly but are grateful for the knowledge that she is at peace in her heavenly home. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby Idaho East Stake Center, 641 East 1st South, Rigby, (adjacent to the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery) with Bishop Layne Kinghorn conducting. The family will visit with friends at the Rigby Idaho East Stake Center, Sunday August 24, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
