Alta A. Campbell

Alta A. Campbell, 86, of Annis, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho. She was born July 15, 1924, in Lorenzo, Idaho to Clarence Marion McMurtrey and Mabel Sophia Scott McMurtrey. She was raised and attended schools in Ririe and Clark, Idaho and graduated from Rigby High School. On July 30, 1949, she married Elmo Campbell in Annis, Idaho; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple November 29, 1962. Alta was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, VFW Auxiliary, Jefferson Historical Society, PTA, and Modern Woodman. She worked 17 years in area potato warehouses. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, cooking, canning, camping and fishing, dancing, playing games and cards, and traveling to see her family. She is survived by her children Terry Ray (Angie) Campbell of Romoland, California; Steven DaWayne (Dawn) Campbell of Lorenzo, Idaho; Judy Kay (Larry) Musen of Kennewick, Washington; and Marva Ann (Keith) Watson of Meridian, Idaho; brother, Billy (Lillie) McMurtrey of Arco, Idaho; a nephew Dallas (Joan Croft) Boulter; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a dear friend and caregiver, Elaine Ricks. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, with Bishop Gary Sears conducting. The family will receive friends Monday, May 2 from 6-8 pm and for one hour prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little-Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
