Alta Fransen Dansie, 93, of Rigby, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rigby. She was born August 20, 1916, in Thornton, to Carl Christian Fransen and Edith Arnold Fransen. She attended Cedar Point elementary, graduated from Madison High School in 1935,. On December 20, 1937, she married Jerry Dansie in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple; together they had one daughter and five sons. He preceded her in death in December of 1994. She and Jerry owned and operated Dansie Jewelry in Rigby for over 26 years. Alta was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in the Primary, Young Women’s Organization and as a Visiting Teacher. She had a deep love of family history and also served in the Family History Center. She enjoyed crocheting, handwork, traveling and reading. She is survived by her sons, Don (Helen) Dansie, of Rexburg, Lynn (Betty) Dansie, of Rigby, Robert (Kathy) Dansie, of Idaho Falls, Layne (Nova) Dansie, of Idaho Falls, a sister, Berneice (Doty) Smith, 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, a daughter, Lana Rae Dansie and a son, Brent F. Dansie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Red Brick LDS Church, 401 W. 1st South, Rigby. The family will receive friends’ from7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday evening at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
