Alvin Rennald Sharp, 93, of Rigby, a well known figure in the community, died peacefully Sunday November 4, 2012 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by loved ones.
Alvin was born on September 20, 1919, in Lewisville, Idaho to William Parley Sharp and Mary Eliza Jones Sharp. He attended Elementary School in Lewisville and Rigby High School. He married his love Thelma Fern Swenson on November 24, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He is survived by a son Brent Sharp and a daughter Claudia Pullman both of Rigby, a brother Stephen (wife Hazel) Sharp of Roseburg, Oregon, 2 step sisters; Donna Tucker and Marvela Newbold, a granddaughter Kathy (Harvey) Didericksen of Hotchkiss, Colorado, grandsons Trevor, Grady and Bobby, adopted Hartwell Family, Mike and J.J., Children, Michael, J.W., Shay, Shawnee, Kaylee, and Lindsey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers; Joseph, Merrill and Ivan and a sister Verla.
He worked for the Jefferson #251 School District for 34 years. The students loved him and he loved to be with the youth.
Alvin was an active member of the LDS church and held many callings in Lewisville and Rigby Wards. Callings include, Executive Secretary for five years In the Lewisville 2nd Ward, Stake Clerk, a faithful Home Teacher and President of the Sunday school and the highlight of his church service was being a Temple Officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple for seven years.
Alvin received many awards throughout his life but was most proud of “The 8 Who Made a Difference” award sponsored by TV channel 8 which he was awarded in 1999.
He was under the care of Hearts for Hospice. We appreciate their care and service and especially want to give Ronda and Paige many thanks for their kind and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 7, 2012 at 11:00a.m. at the LDS Church on the corner of 1st South and 3rd West in Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday November 6th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
