Annie Stella Petersen, age 77, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Liberty Square Retirement Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ann was born March 19, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho a daughter of William August Dineen and Stella Christy Sessions Dineen. She was raised and attended school in Idaho Falls and Roberts and graduated from Roberts High School. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the cub scouts, young women’s, primary and the relief society. She married John L. Surerus on August 17, 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple in August of 1957. John preceded her in death in January 1978. She married Commodore Hunter on June 2, 1979 in Roberts, Idaho. They moved to Goshen where he had a farm and livestock. He also preceded her in death in September 1995. She married Eldon Petersen on October 4, 2002 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She retired from the United States Postal Service as a clerk and then Postmaster in Roberts on June 2, 1989 after 29 years of service. Ann enjoyed going to the cattle and horse sales with Commodore, being able to travel the western states to visit family, and taking cruises with Eldon She is survived by her husband Eldon Petersen of Idaho Falls, daughters Christy (Hirum) Robison of Roberts, Annette (David) Sweifel of Dubois, Kara Felicia of Arizona, sons, John W. (Connie) Surerus and Mike (LaNae) Surerus of Roberts, David (Lorrie) Surerus of Moreland, Douglas (Nancy) Surerus of Carey, Daniel (Heather) Surerus of Middleton, Ben (Deena) of Goshen, Clint Hunter of Salt City, Utah and Chad Hunter, Sisters Billie Dineen of Seattle, Washington, Jenny Hall of Driggs, Idaho Betty Dineen of Idaho Falls, Ella Mae Surerus of Pocatello, Millie Vice of Denver, Colorado, and Bonnie Dineen, Brothers Dennis (Bonnie) Dineen of Idaho Falls, and John Braegger of Brigham City, Utah, 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands John Surerus and Commodore Hunter; sisters Nona Braegger, Margaret Brown, and Irene Empy, brothers Jack Dineen, Dick Hall, Bill Surerus, Herb Surerus, Bill Wise, Sheldon Empy and her parents Bill and Stella Dineen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Roberts 2nd Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the church. Interment will be at the Roberts Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
