Araceli (Sally) Martinez Ellsworth, 65, of Lewisville passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. She fought a courageous eight year battle, without complaint, before succumbing to the ravages of cancer.
She was born January 20, 1948 to Magdalena Martinez and Guillermo Trejo in Mateguala, Mexico.
She was blessed with 4 beautiful daughters and always made sure to point it out. She also had 3 amazing handsome sons, whom she too was so proud of. She met the love of her life, Elmer Ellsworth in 1976; he was her protector, companion and best friend. They married April 23, 1982 and solemnized their marriage in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 14, 1989.
Sally was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she loved serving in the church; her favorite calling was being a primary teacher. She enjoyed cooking (she cooked the best Mexican food ever), baking and reading her scriptures. She adored her children and even more, her grandchildren, she looked forward to Sundays when the entire family would get together. Our mother was very unique; we were so blessed to have had her in our lives, she influenced our lives greatly as well as the lives of so many others. She was a friend to all, always ready to help and care for anyone in need, putting herself last. She was adored and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband; Elmer Ellsworth, children; Monica (Gerardo) Lazalde, Fred (Jenny) Martinez, Willy Martinez, Brent (Katie) Ellsworth, Amy (Josh) Woodard, Crystal (Chris) Edwards, Brenda (Gabriel) Arteaga, and 14 beautiful grandchildren, as well as 8 brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Our mother will be deeply missed but it is comforting to know she has gone to our Heavenly Father’s open arms. Thank you for being our best friend and for all you have done and taught us. We extend our sincere appreciation to those at Huntsman Cancer Institute and Teton Oncology for their love and efforts, and all those who cared for her. We love you Mom and we hope to one day be with you once again.
