Arden James Jensen

September 30, 1913 — April 12, 2004

Arden James Jensen, 90, of Rigby, Idaho died Monday, April 12, 2004, at the Idaho Falls Care Center. Arden was born on September 30, 1913 in Rigby, Idaho the son of Olof Jensen and Carrie Alzina Ball Jensen. He attended school in Rigby. He played football and basketball for Rigby High School and was team captain. During his summers he worked for the government with the CCC Boys. He joined the 116th Combat Engineers National Guard Unit stationed out of Rigby when he was only thirteen years old. Before he could graduate from high school his Guard Unit was activated to serve with the Army during World War II. After his release from the Army he traveled to Portland, Oregon where he worked in the ship yards. He then attended Business College in Boise, Idaho. He returned home to the Rigby area and worked for Gerald Gallup dry farming. He worked in Ririe, Idaho for Charlie Clark at the Pilsbury Mills grain elevators, then operated a bar in Rigby. He had worked for the Cheese Factory in Ririe and as a custodian for District 93 in Idaho Falls. He worked for the City of Rigby and retired as the City Water Master. Arden married Donna Humphrey in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on February 11, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a member of the Rigby V.F.W. Post 1004 and had served as Post Commander. He belonged to the Rigby Bowling League for a few seasons earning himself second place at state. He loved to fish and float the South Fork of the Snake River He is survived by his two daughters; Cheryl Christine Conley of Rigby, Idaho and Charleen (David E. ) Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah. Two sons; Dennis L (NoraDee) Jensen of Firth, Idaho and Frank Howard (Marianne) Jensen of Chadsworth, California. A sister, Velda Meyerhoffer of Idaho Falls, Idaho and a brother, Jerry (Enid) Jensen of Rigby, Idaho. Seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, and two sisters Edna Hayes and Alta Parkinson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main, Rigby, Idaho) at 1:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends Friday, April 16, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 17, 2004 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
