Arland Jay Ball, age 74, of Ucon, Idaho died Monday, August 4, 2003, at the Rexburg Nursing Center. Arland was born on August 21, 1928, in Ucon, Idaho, the son of Morris Marion Ball and Elsie Emilie Wilkins Ball. Arland was raised and attended schools in Ucon and Idaho Falls. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the Bishop in the Ucon 1st Ward, and also on the High Council in the Ucon Stake. He was a Temple officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple. Arland worked for the USDA Soil Conservation District in Jefferson, Bonneville and Bingham Counties. He served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. Arland enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and church service. Survivors: Wife Joyce Ball of Ucon, Idaho Daughters, Nancy (Steven) Taylor of Rigby, Idaho, Marian (Sam) Brinton of Ucon, Idaho Sons Douglas J (Judy) Ball of Brigham City, Utah Blair M (Laurie) Ball of Cherry Valley, California, Brother Eugene Ball of Idaho Falls, Idaho 20 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren Arland was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ucon 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Sid Hill officiating. The family will meet with friends on Friday, August 7, 2003 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
