Arlene Drake, 85, of Lewisville, passed away March 24, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Arlene was born on August 4, 1937, in Downey, Idaho, to Sylvia June Barnes and Norris Lewis Guidinger. As a young girl Her family moved to Burbank, California. In 1945 the family moved to Lorenzo, Idaho where Arlene attended grade school and later Rigby High school.
On September 10, 1953, she married her companion, Billy (Bill) Elmer Drake, in Idaho Falls They enjoyed 69 years of marriage. They met in Lorenzo as young kids. Together, they raised two sons, Craig, and Randell (Randy) Drake. After getting married Arlene graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1972. Arlene retired from the INEL as an Administrative Specialist.
Arlene and Bill’s marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on September 6, 2003.
Arlene and Bill enjoyed spending time with their family. Together they loved traveling in their motorhome. They enjoyed many destinations, Henry’s Lake, Alaska, Yuma, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park and everywhere in between. Arlene and Bill looked forward each year to spending their winters in their “Yuma House”.
Arlene was a very talented seamstress and could create anything she was asked to do. She loved gardening, making food, sewing, crafting, quilting, canning, humanitarian projects and being with their “puppies”.
Survivors are her husband, Bill Drake; sons, Craig (Karol) Drake Lewisville, ID, Randy (Lori) Drake Lewisville, ID. Sisters Marilyn, (Burt) Sommer, Hibbard, ID, Faye (Delbert) Bills, Colorado Springs, CO, Raylee (Monte) Faulkner, Bancroft, ID. Arlene and Bill have six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Grace (Dennis) Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30 th , 2023, at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 W Main Street Rigby, ID 83442 with Bishop Terry Ellsworth officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in the Annis Cemetery.
