Arta Lavon Cooper

Arta Lavon Cooper, 80, of Idaho Falls, Idaho died Friday October 8, 2004, at the Life Care Center. Arta was born on March 9, 1924, in Poplar, Idaho a daughter of Alvin A. Wheeler and Rozetta Cleverley Wheeler. She was raised in the Poplar and Shelton area. Arta graduated from the Ucon High School. Arta married Keith Bowcutt. They later divorced. She married Arvel G. Cooper in American Falls, Idaho on January 20, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on January 23, 1946. She worked at Pantorium Cleaners and White Star Laundry as a young woman. She also worked for tax accountants and the Dept. of Energy. Arta spent many years working for First Security Bank and the Bank of Commerce. She worked for Van Kampens as their bookkeeper until she retired. Arta was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in the Primary and Young women’s organizations. Arta loved her family, making quilts, the outdoors, and people. Survivors include one daughter Linda (Richard) Watson of Ucon, Idaho and one sister Perlee (Garvin) Durrant of Rigby, Idaho. 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Arta was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Arvel, one son Vaughn, and one brother Oliver Alvin “Bud” Wheeler. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 13, 2004 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. The family will meet with friends prior to the services from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
