Artell Joseph Lovell, 88, died Monday March 28 th in Vancouver, WA.

Artell was born April 23, 1933 to Joseph Edmond and Verla Purser Lovell in Rigby, Idaho.

Artell graduated from Beaverhead County High School, Dillon Montana, in 1953. Where he was the co-captain of the football team and President of FFA. After High School he attended a year at Ricks College where he played football. He was then drafted into the US Army and reported to Fort Lewis, Washington. In the Army he trained as a Mechanic and spent time in both Fort Lewis and Fort Ord, California.

Soon after entering the Army, he married Ruth Ann Fugate of Idaho Falls, Idaho on October 30, 1953.

Upon discharge from the Army in 1954 he pursued an education, earning a B.S. in Physical Metallurgy form Washington State University as the Outstanding Senior for the Department in 1961. He also earned an M.S. Metallurgical Engineering for University of Idaho 1966 and engaged in Post M.S. studies at Washington State University.

Artell spent his career as a Metallurgical Researcher working in Richland, WA at Hanford, in Idaho Falls, ID at the Idaho Test Station and in Oak Ridge, TN at Y-12 Labs. He is the author and co-author of several paten disclosures and many publications. He was a member of Sigma Xi, Sigma Tau, ASM and past ASTM cub-committee chairman.

He is preceded by wife Ruth Ann Fugate, sons Bryant Jay Lovell (1957) and Bruce Allen Lovell (1962). His parents, a brother, Virgil Lovell and a sister, Loaine (Don) Larsen.

He is survived by Son, Paul (Heather) Lovell of Kailua, HI, Daughter, Sue Lovell Moore of Vancouver, WA, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Sister, Helen (Kent) Harker, Star Valley, WY, Brother, Edmond (Glynice) Lovell, Dillon, MT.

Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery Rigby, Idaho.
