Artella Ann Schneiter

Artella Ann Schneiter, age 86, of Archer, Idaho died at Madison Memorial Hospital Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Artella was born September 11, 1919, at Archer, Idaho a daughter to George Lelen Weekes and Martha Lavon Galbraith Weekes. She married Erven Clair Schneiter June 24, 1939 in Archer, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple, April 12, 1966. During her twenty years as custodian in the Manwaring Center of Ricks College, she made many lasting friendships. In 1981 she received the Exemplary Service Award for outstanding service to the college. One of the best examples of her loyalty and devotion was displayed during the time following the Teton Dam Flood. Large numbers of people were housed at the college and fed in the Manwaring Center. It was stated that her and her crews cleaning was a prime factor in keeping the disease level down. She loved her family, first and foremost and enjoyed working in her yard. She was well known for her candy making, especially peanut brittle, divinity and honey candy. She grew up loving the yearly huckleberry campouts. Another hobby in later years was picture taking and she has hundreds of beautiful sunsets, clouds and family. She has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Sunday school teacher, secretary and librarian. She loved attending the temple. She is survived by two daughters: Darlene Clements of Sunnydell, Hazel (Ken) Rose of Archer, one son Bob (Joyce) Schneiter of Burton, four sisters: Clea Briggs of Idaho Falls, Anita Peterson of Lyman, Leah Andersen of Idaho Falls and Maxine (LeRoy) Hope of Idaho Falls, two brothers: Junior “Slim” (Velma) Weekes of Basin, Wyoming, DeVar (Gwen) Weekes of Salem, 26 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Archer-Sunnydell LDS Chapel with Bishop Wallace Bennett officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
