Arthur Eugene Buker, age 90, of Idaho Falls, died Friday August 18, 2006, at his home in Idaho Falls.
He was born November 25, 1915, in Pittsburg, California to Herbert W. and Ida May Booth Buker. He married Hazel Virginia Carr, April 1, 1939, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple August 25, 1969. He was a longtime resident of California and worked as a longshoreman in Stockton, California until he retired in 1980. He later moved near his daughter in Blackfoot, Idaho, then to the Idaho Falls area. He became a member of the LDS Church in 1960. He served a mission in the Amador County area of California, has been in the Sunday School presidency, and held several other positions through his years as a member. He had been an avid model airplane builder and flyer since 1939. He built planes from model size to quarter scale. He belonged to several model clubs, and has supported the EAA, AMA, and various air museums across the country. In later years, he enjoyed flying with his son, and building planes for others to fly. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by one brother, Herbert Wesley Buker of Greenville, California, two children, Robert Eugene Buker of Kingman, Arizona, and Sharon Irene Stees of Idaho Falls, Idaho, five grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Hazel Virginia Carr Buker.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, Idaho with Bishop larry Clayton officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday for one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Pine Grove, California.
