Barbara Marie Cordon

Barbara Marie Denning Cordon (79) passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, after a long and hard-fought battle with various health issues.

Barbara was born on January 31, 1947, to Warren and Freeda Denning of Ammon. She attended most of her school years there. In 1960, they moved to Lewisville and she began attending school in Rigby. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Marlow Cordon. They were married on October 10, 1962, and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Throughout the early years of their marriage, Brad, Brian, and Susan were welcomed into their home.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Barbara fulfilled many church callings, including serving in the Relief Society Presidency as first counselor. She was also a dedicated visiting teacher. Nothing was more important to her than time with her family. As a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved every visit. Before her health slowed her down, Barbara and Marlow loved to camp with family. There were many weekends spent at Aspen Acres with both immediate and extended family.

Barbara worked for many years as a lunch lady at both Rigby Jr. High and Rigby High school. She made several good friends during that time. After she retired, she spent her time focusing on her family. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed making sure her home was clean and comfortable for her family.

She loved Fall, the Holidays, fried chicken, pizza, homemade pie, and rolls. However, her most favorite thing was Diet Coke. She always had some on hand.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marlow Cordon; her children, Brad (Karen) Cordon, Brian Cordon, and Susan (Ralph) Bennett, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Freeda Denning, her brother Bob Denning, her sister Marge Wise, and son-in-law Thad Goodman.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Idaho Falls Community Hospital and Teton Healthcare for the compassionate care given to Barbara and her family members.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Garfield Stake Center, 106 North 3800 East, Rigby, ID 83442. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Garfield Stake Center, also prior to the service on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Grant Central Cemetery.
