Barbara “Betty” Katharina Taylor, 75, of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at her home, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born November 30, 1934, in Bad Tölz, Germany to Adolf and Maria Nägler. She was raised and attended schools in Bad Tölz, Germany. After her school days, she worked in the Hofapotheke and trained to be a Chemist Assistant. Later she worked in a pharmacy in Lenggries and Bad Tölz. On June 12, 1959, she married Earl H. Taylor Jr. in Münich, Germany. She and her husband raised 5 children while traveling around serving in the U.S. Army. After moving to the US, she worked for the Idaho Falls Post Register for 25 years before retiring to spend time with her family.
Her father gave her the nickname “Spatz” because she was so small and tiny like a sparrow, and was known as “Spatz” by those close to her. Betty was always happy and in good temper, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, watching WWE and Friday Night Smack Down, and most of all loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Earl H. Taylor Jr., of Idaho Falls, her daughters, Judy (Bret) Haddon, of Idaho Falls, Earlene (Rod) Poole, of Menan, Maria (Dr. Jeff) Huck, of Farmington, MO, sons, Roy H (Mary) Taylor Sr., of Ririe, Jim (Kari) Taylor, of Rigby, sisters, Resi Rest, Erika Riedmüller, brothers, Adolf Nägler, Hans Nägler, Joseph “Sepp” Nägler, all of Germany, 14 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Marianne Grimm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends and family from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
