Bert Albert Murphy, age 83, passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls Monday, July 20, 2015.
Bert was born February 4, 1932, in Boise, Idaho a son to Mike Albert Murphy and Ruth Evans Murphy. He was raised in Boise, Arbon, McCammon and Milo and attended schools in Arbon Valley, McCammon and graduated from McCammon High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On October 27, 1954 he married Elma Newman in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1994. On February 4, 1995 he married Veloy Crow in Ammon, Idaho.
He worked for Simplot for 20 years spreading Fertilizer, for Ideal Hardware in Idaho Falls and as a custodian for the L.D.S. Church.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in the Boy Scouts, as a Home Teacher and as the Executive Secretary for his Bishop. He enjoyed picnics with his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife Veloy of Ammon, a daughter Dixie Kay Murphy of Milo, 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elma, a son Steven Bert Murphy, a daughter Rosemary Andrus, a sister Donna Marley and two brothers, Jesse and Tom.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Milo 1st Ward LDS Church, 12127 North 75th East, with Bishop Alan Johnson officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, July 23rd from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow services in the Milo Cemetery.
