Her Granddaughter calls Granny her “Kindred Rebel”. Bessie was born to William Thomas Morgan and Ester Elizabeth Simper Morgan at the homestead on the south fork of the Snake River in LaBelle, Idaho November 6, 1913; the baby of the family of 8 children. Life on the Snake was a joyous time spent with her sister Mildred fishing with their father in his later years. She picked peas in the seed house and worked in spud cellars as did most. Bessie and Harold Hugh Morgan (no Relation) traveled to Dillon Montana where they married on the 12th of January 1934. They moved onto the homestead where Bessie was born. Joan and Errol grew up with the love of music listening to the beautiful voices of their parents as they sang in harmony. She loved to dance only second to fishing, Harold was always trying to make her stay home because she would out fish him and all who went with them. Astride her horse, with her 25-35 Winchester in the scabbard, Bessie would spend many hours hunting with Harold and Roy. Bess and Harold for many years owned the Lorenzo Gas Station and Bar famous for the “coldest beer” on the road to West Yellowstone. A hard worker, Bessie worked in retail sales, owned another lounge and retired from Idaho Fresh-Pak in 1976. After retirement they moved to Boise to be closer to their son Errol Hugh and daughter Joan Sotto. Grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren filled her life with parties, sports and love, given and received, with gracious unconditional acceptance and respect. For thirty five years she would fix Sunday breakfast in her home for family and friends. Bessie’s past 2 years was spent in the loving home with her granddaughter Judy Sotto Markel and husband Steve. She is survived by her son Errol (Connie) Morgan numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews who all love this beautifully witty, gregarious, gracious, and mischievous woman.
