Beth Baker

March 1, 1926 — October 23, 2017

Beth Baker returned to the arms of our loving Heavenly Father on Oct 23, 2017.  She was born in Clark, Idaho, the eldest daughter of Garrick W. Fillmore and Sarah Lettie Tolley.   She attended Clark Elementary and Rigby High School.  During her growing up years the Fillmore family worked hard and played together.  Indoor and outdoor games were equally enjoyed.  However, Pinochle, was a favorite and Beth could be found at the table playing the game during any camping trip, an evening at home with her family, or a friendly competitive game with her friends.  Beth married Elmer Baker on September 7, 1943 in the Logan, Utah Temple.  Most of their dating was done on a motorcycle because of the depression.  Starting their family the next year with the birth of their first son, Dennis (Rozalee) Baker, followed by Julie (Larry) Shuldberg, Gary (Marilyn) Baker, Janet (Robert) Jenks, Sandra (Cliff) Felkins, and Carol Baker.  As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Beth served in callings within the Primary and Relief Society auxiliaries.  She especially loved her calling in the Homemaking area of Relief Society.  On May 11, 1992 Beth and Elmer entered the MTC in preparation to serve a mission to the South Dakota, Rapid City mission.  They served a second mission 1996-1997 at the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors Center. Through the years, she worked for a dentist Dr. Edwin Lee, Idaho Fresh-PAC, JC Penny’s, and Artco.  She loved her garden and flowerbeds and spent many hours planting, tending, harvesting, and canning the things they produced.  Beth and Elmer were a team.  Their house was always in a state of home improvement, discovering new ideas for making things better and more convenient.  Beth loved camping and the mountains.  The family spent many happy days, riding motorcycles, sharing life around a campfire, and playing games.  Her home seemed to be the stop over place for family and friends traveling by, welcoming them with open arms and a smile.  She always had a bed and yummy food to share. She is survived by her children; her siblings, Wayne (Fern deceased) Fillmore of Taylorsville, Utah, Ray (Carla) Fillmore of Midway, Utah, Joe (Georgia) Fillmore of Norfolk, Nebraska, Celia (Ed deceased) Ellis of Olympia, Washington, Ron Fillmore of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Max (Sharla) Fillmore of Bountiful, Utah.  Beth loved her 32 grandchildren, 85 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.  She knew hers were the brightest, best looking, and most talented.  They were certainly the most loved.  Beth was preceded in death by her sweetheart Elmer Baker, by her parents - Garrick W. and Sarah Fillmore, a brother and sister-in-law, Arlo and Carma Fillmore, a brother-in-law Ed Ellis, a sister-in-law Fern Wheeler, a sister-in-law Lavere Robison and a grandson Kim Larry Shuldberg. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 28, 2017 at the Rigby 12th Ward Chapel, 602 Sundance Drive, Rigby.  Family will meet with friends prior to the funeral at 9:30-10:30.  Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Rigby.
