Betty Larue Pulley Bennion

Betty LaRue Pulley Bennion Our kind and gentle mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away July 17, 2008 of cancer. Betty was born March 25, 1927 in American Fork, Utah to Frank Melvin and Emma Elvira Palmer Pulley. She attended schools in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High in 1945. After high school she went to work for the Telephone Company as an operator where she met Lynette Bennion who introduced her to Eternal Mate, Grant Burton Bennion. Their marriage was solemnized February 14, 1947, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Betty was an active member of the LDS Church; she has given of her talents while serving faithfully in many organizations. She and her husband also served as extraction missionaries. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours with Grant gardening. She enjoyed reading, handwork, quilting and genealogy. She crocheted many beautiful afghans for her children and grandchildren, as well as many hats and scarves for the humanitarian center. She was very kind and gentle with her children and always told them of her love for them. Her example of caring for others, teaching others her skills and her quiet guidance will stay with us always. Survivors include her children, Kaye (Mike) Baker, of Idaho Falls, Dave (Marie) Bennion, of Rigby, Janet (Layne) Beck, of Smithfield, Ut., and John (Sandy) Bennion, of Sandpoint, ID., 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, with two on the way, two sisters Afton (Ron) Proctor of Pleasant Grove, Ut., Delores (Willard) Rinehart Nicholas of Rigby, two brothers, Merrill (Sharon) Pulley of West Valley City, Ut., and Richard Pulley of West Jordan City, Ut., She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and 7 siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Clark LDS Chapel, 199 N. 4300 E. on Thursday July 24, 2008, with Bishop John Roberts, conducting. The family will visit with friends and relatives from Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
