Betty Gene Wheeler Henrie, 82, of Ririe, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at her daughter’s home.
She was born February 15, 1931 in Rigby, to Hyrum Elvin Palmer and Genevieve Empey Palmer. She attended elementary school in Milo and then attended Ucon High School. On September 14, 1948, she married Oliver Alvin “Bud” Wheeler in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple. He preceded her in death. On July 25, 1986, she married Clarence “Fred” Henrie in Ririe. They made their home in Roberts. Betty lived in Milo and the Ririe area for most of her life.
She worked for Dr. Arbon as a secretary for 6 years in Idaho Falls. She also worked at Willow Creek Vet Clinic. She served as the Horse Racing Secretary at Sandy Downs and for the Idaho Fair Circuit, and was a member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Posse Auxiliary.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, grandkids, cooking and her many friends and family. She was a horse enthusiast who enjoyed supporting her husband and sons as they traveled throughout the Intermountain West racing horses.
Betty is survived by her son, Dave (Toni) Wheeler, of Ririe, daughter, Sherri Wheeler (Don) Isom, of Ririe, son, Don (Sherry) Wheeler, of Idaho Falls, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands and her son, Danny.
Funeral services will be held at the Ririe Stake Center on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing on Sunday, September 15, 2013, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. also at the Stake Center. The family will meet with friends Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
