Betty Jean Lundquist Muir, age 88, of Rexburg Idaho passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at The Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg.
Betty was born September 13, 1927 in Labelle Idaho a daughter to Joseph LaVern and Louie Eileen Lundquist. She was raised in Swan Valley and attended Granita Elementary school. She then attended and graduated from Ririe High school. She trained as a nurse and worked at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. She married Ross James Muir on July 10, 1946. They lived in Swan Valley where they owned and operated Swan Movie Theatre until they moved to Rigby in 1960. They lived in Rigby for 6 years and then moved to Seattle for 46 years. They formed lifelong friendships everywhere they lived. Betty was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as Relief Society president, she also worked in the primary and Scouts. She drove a school bus for 30 years. She was an avid gardener. She loved to cook for crowds. Her specialties were bread, pies, and cinnamon rolls.
Betty is survived by her daughters, MarJean (Roger) Krupp, Renton, Washington, Bonnie (George) Clegg, Claremont, California, her sons, Vernon (Cherilyn) Muir, Rexburg, Idaho, Jerry (Kim) Muir, Sugar City, Idaho, and Jon (Jerrie) Muir, Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by 13 grand-children and 32 great grand-children.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ross James Muir, two children James Lundquist Muir (Son), and Pamela Muir (daughter) and two brothers, Kenneth Lundquist and Max Lundquist.
Services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015, 11:00 am at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, in Rigby. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent Washington. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to Homestead Assisted Living Center, 408 West Main, Rexburg, ID, 83440.
