Beula Griffith Smith, 86, of Rigby, died May 17, 2009, at Syringa Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice in Idaho Falls. She was born December 27, 1922, in Bates, Idaho to David King Bowen Jr. and Florence Buxton Bowen. She attended schools in Driggs, graduating from Teton High School. On October 20, 1940 she married Daniel LeRoy Griffith in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. She farmed with her husband Daniel LeRoy Griffith in the Darby Idaho area until 1966. Following her husbands death, she moved to Rexburg, where she worked in the Madison High School cafeteria and in 1968 she started working at Ricks College in the David O. Mckay Library. On April 3, 1970, she married Howard R. Smith in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the adult advisor for the Ricks College Lamba Delta Sorority. She served a genealogical mission for the church in Salt Lake City, UT. She was a member of the Rigby Study Club. Beula loved cooking, sewing, flower gardening, square dancing, ballroom dancing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Anne (Wayne) Christensen, of Iona, Roxanne S. (Charles) Briggs, of Idaho Falls, sons, David LeRoy (Linda) Griffith, of Ogden, UT, Terry Edward (Jerilyn) Griffith, Douglas Stewart (Julie Ann) Griffith, of Menan, sisters, Rhoda Bowen, of Idaho Falls, Vonnie Bowen, of Payson, UT, 29 grandchildren and 75 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers, one sister and a stepson, Frank Smith. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 W. 1st N., Rigby. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
