Bill J. Anderson, 83, of Idaho Falls, died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born April 16, 1930, in Rigby to Ether Anderson and Eva Thomas Anderson. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1950; he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. On October 31, 1953, he married JoAnn Madison in Rigby; they were blessed with 5 children.
Bill worked as a Shoe Repairman at Becker’s Repair Shop in Rigby, for Intermountain Gas, and as a Taxi Driver in Idaho Falls. From 1960 to 1990 he worked as a Police Officer for the Idaho Falls Police Department.
Bill was a member of the Eagles; he enjoyed bowling and participated in pro point and scratch bowling leagues. He also loved to fish, hunt, and camp.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine Anderson, of Melrose, Montana, Holly (Steve) Killian, of Idaho Falls, Wendy (Jack) Wood, of Surprise, Arizona, sons, Thomas W. Anderson, of Idaho Falls, Troy B. Anderson, of Idaho Falls, sister, Donna Rumby, of Kansas, brother, Dewain (JoAnn) Anderson, of Idaho Falls, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, a sister, Barbara Forsgren and a brother, Dale Anderson.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby.
