Bill Cecil Sneed

William “Bill” Cecil Sneed, 85, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Norman OK, died Tue, March 2, 2010, at his home in Idaho Falls. The youngest of 7 children he was born May 29, 1924, in Madill, OK, to George Lovell Sneed and Mary Sowell Sneed. He was raised and attended schools in Madill, graduating from Madill High School. He joined the US Army during WWII and served as a paratrooper, seeing his first action with the 106th at the Battle of the Bulge. He then continued his education at the University of Oklahoma where he met Nancy Virginia McCoy. They married On November 21, 1948; in Valley Center, KA. Their marriage was later solemnized In the Mesa AZ LDS Temple. While attending OU he obtained an officer’s commission and served during the Korean Conflict as a field artillery officer. Upon returning Bill attained his BA degree and worked for Phillips Petroleum for 25 years until retirement. Bill and Nancy lived in Norman, OK for 48 years until they moved to Idaho Falls, ID in 2004 to be closer to family. Bill was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions and on a 2-year mission with his wife, Nancy, at the Dallas, TX Temple. His family will miss his constant affection and words of encouragement. He is survived by his wife; Nancy Sneed, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, daughters; Anne (& Lonnie) Mollberg, of Idaho Falls, Martha (& Steve) Sells, of New Braunfels, TX, Stacy (& John) Geppert, of Culpeper, VA, a son, William C. Sneed Jr. of West Sacramento, CA, 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, a daughter; Barbara Sneed and a grand-daughter, Jennifer Sells. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday March 9, 2010, at the Idaho Falls Stake Center, on 1st St. in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Additionally there will be a funeral service in Norman, OK; Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery in Norman, OK.
