Venna “Billie” Beck age 83, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 surrounded by her family at Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rigby. She had been under the care of Solice Hospice for several weeks.
Billie was born June 5, 1928 to parents Vendon and Maude Kent Prophet. She grew up and attended schools in Rigby.
She married Robert George Burns and together they had 4 children. They were divorced and she later married Ralph Miller Beck and they had one son together.
Billie had numerous jobs but was content to have “wife, mother and grandmother” be her number one job.
Billie was a Christian and was known for her ability to make anyone who came to her home feel welcome. She also made sure anyone who left her house left well fed. She loved to crochet and there were many who are privileged to be the recipients of her beautiful dolls and afghans. She also took great pride in her roses and enjoyed getting a new variety to add to her beautiful garden.
Billie is survived by two sons RanDe Tod (Suzanne) Burns and Benny Slade (Jill) Beck, daughter Tawny Rayne (Eric) Moss and a daughter-in-law Patricia Burns, two brothers, Fred (Irene) Robbins and Jimmy (Connie) Robbins, She left a legacy of 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph Beck, a son Robert Kent Burns and an infant daughter Margo Burns.
Services will be held Friday, October 7, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Friday for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
