William “Billy” Marvin Gneiting, 85, of Ammon, formerly of Garfield, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born September 4, 1924, in Garfield to William Gneiting and Mable Jenkins Gneiting. He was raised and attended grade school in Garfield and attended Ucon High School. He served in the US Navy from January 1, 1944 to May 5, 1946, during WWII. He married Faye Morgan on February 1, 1948, in Garfield; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 16, 1965. They made their home in Rigby and lived there for 9 years and then moved to the family farm in Garfield. He farmed in the Garfield area for many years and was a potato inspector for the Department of Agriculture. After retiring, he and Faye would spend the winter in Arizona. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Billy loved to fish, travel with his wife, Faye, and he also and enjoyed snowmobiling. He is survived by his wife Faye, of Ammon, sisters, Donna Lucile Hill, of Idaho Falls, Marcene Hadley, of Ammon, Sarah Arlene Hayes of Rigby, brother, Samuel LaMar (Patricia) Gneiting, of Garfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, with Military Rites by the Jefferson Veterans Team. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, Thursday, prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
