Billy Joe Santo Locascio

December 11, 1947 — September 13, 2025

Billy Joe Santo Locascio of Mud Lake, Idaho, was born on December 11, 1947, underneath the last overpass going into Brigham City, Utah from Bear River, Utah. Bill was the first boy of five boys and one girl born to Frank Locascio and Wilalma Armstrong.

He attended Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah prior to being drafted into the United States Army in 1968.

In April of 1969, he started dating Sherry Ball and on June 10, 1969 they eloped to Elko, Nevada and were married. While in Brigham City after they were married, Bill worked as a mechanic, built White Freightliner semis and Champion homes before opening his own radiator and welding shop in Brigham City.

In 1971, Bill joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and went on to serve in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency and in the young men’s program, but his favorite callings were the many primary assignments he was given. Bill had a sincere love of children and wanted them to know how important they are and that they are special. At the time of his death, he was teaching the 4-year-olds in primary, teaching them about the gospel, kindness and the “hi-sign.” He was excited to share his enthusiasm with his teaching partner, Forrest Siddoway.

Santo, their oldest child was born September 5, 1972 and Bill and Sherry’s marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple on December 27, 1972.

Anthony Angelo joined the family in 1974, Marie in 1978, Angela in 1979, Natalie in 1982, Marc in 1984 and finally, Michael in 1986. Bill was extremely proud of his Sicilian lineage and each child was given an Italian name as well.

In addition to serving in the Boy Scouts of America program, Bill belonged to the West Jefferson Lions Club, was on the Mud Lake/Terreton Water Board, and served as a volunteer on the Mud Lake Fire Department. Bill also served many years as a councilman on the Mud Lake City Council. He had a great love for serving his neighbors.

Bill worked many years in the parts store in Mud Lake, Idaho and also took care of the West Jefferson Cemetery with the help of his family. He was proud of the fact that his kids learned to work hard and learned to be proud of a job well done whether it was moving pipe or mowing lawns.

After Bill retired, Clark County School District 161 asked him if he would be willing to take care of the grounds for a summer when they lost their maintenance man. That summer job ended up lasting eight years. The best part of working at the school for Bill was that all the kids called him “Grandpa” and treated him as such. This Grandpa name carried on throughout his life in all he did.

Bill was blessed with a special love for others. He never saw anything negative in others and rebuked his family if they did. He had an uncommon empathy for others and was able to put himself in their shoes. He helped countless people and sometimes to the chagrin of the family, brought many strangers into our home.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Sherry Locascio, and his five children, Santo (Destry) Locascio, Marie Locascio, Angela (Ryan) Brown, Marc (Yudi) Locascio, and Michael (Mariska) Locascio.19 Grandchildren, Ty, Mesa, Maia, Jake, Samantha, Tabitha, Natalie, Angelo, Portland, Elle, Mayer, Kaylan, Remi, Karlee, Kendra, Angel, James, Jackie, and Dax, and two Great Grandchildren, Bailey and Avery. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Natalie Locascio, his son, Anthony Angelo Locascio, his parents, and his brother Frankie.
