Blanche Christensen

Blanche Christensen, age 84, of Menan, died at her daughters home in Menan, Wednesday, September 13, 2006. Blanche was born November 16, 1921 at Chesterfield, Idaho a daughter to George William Bower and Clara Malissa Campbell. She attended schools in Chesterfield and graduated as the valedictorian of her class from North Gem High School in Bancroft, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho State University with her associates’ degree. She later returned and received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education while she raised her family. She married Lynn Lovell Christensen, April 11, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She taught School at the Roberts Elementary and Midway Elementary schools for 31 years. She was a member of the Jefferson County Educators Association and served as President. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church serving in the YWMIA and Relief Society. She enjoyed reading and was know for her public readings, poetry, sewing and music. She is survived by four daughters: Ingrid (Bruce) Ball of Idaho Falls, Eulalie (Bruce) Hall of Menan, Sonja (Mike) Schaat of Menan, Elinor (Douglas) Wine of Bel Air Maryland, two sons: Alan (Laurie) Christensen of Menan, Bryant Christensen of Summerland, California, one sister Wilma Cornia of Evanston, Wyoming, 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons Eric and Jordan, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Menan 1st Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Tuesday from11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
