Bobby Dean Packard, 74 of Menan, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Bobby was born September 17, 1941 at Milacs, Minnesota to Robert Edgar Packard and Florence Marie Nelson Packard. He was raised and attended schools in Grants Pass Oregon and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Texas, Japan, Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois and Hill Air Force Base in Utah. On December 17, 1961, he married Evalyn Joy Hall in Elko, Nevada. He worked at various lumber yards in Oregon, with Peter Kiewit Construction on the various road projects in Southeast Idaho, and on the Teton Dam. He also retired from Idaho Fresh Pak. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping with his children and grandchildren, playing pool and card games and was a member of the AA for 23 years. He was also a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Evalyn Joy Packard, of Menan, daughter, Evalyn Marie (Rick) Williams of Fredericksburg, Virginia, sons, Timothy Wayne (Sheila) Packard, of McMinnville, Oregon, Bobby D. Packard Jr., of Clark, Galen “Dale” Packard, of Menan, Lt. Col. Steven Eric Packard, of Montgomery, Alabama, sisters, Delores (J) Jones of Grants Pass Oregon, Jill Lutman, of Grants Pass, Oregon, brother, David E. (Carmen) Packard, of Prairie City, Oregon, 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lisa Dean Packard and brothers, Dale and Dennis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 to 10:45 am, Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, with Military Rites by the Jefferson Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
