Bonnie June Chapple of Ririe passed January 19, 2024 at her home.
She was born June 9, 1938 to Eugene and Wanda Byington, the 5th of eight children. She grew up on the family dry farm in the Poplar area, and went to school in the little one room school house across the road from her home. She was known as a tom boy and could outrun most of the boys in her class. She loved to dance and attended the dances in Ririe almost every Saturday night. It was there she met a handsome cowboy by the name of Jay Chapple. They were married September 30, 1955 in her parents living room in Poplar. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 21, 1987.
Jay and Bonnie were blessed with three children: Cindy, Julie, and Clint. Their family moved many times as Jay’s work required him to relocate. In 1979, they built their home in Poplar and she was living there at the time of her death.
After Jay stopped working in the construction field, they pursued their passion of racing thoroughbred horses. They raced at tracks throughout the intermountain west and were very successful. It was a dream come true for them.
Bonnie adored her family. She went to every ball game and event she could. If you had the time, she would love to tell you all about them.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Steve) Hickman, sisters Barbara Landon and Delores Monroe, brothers Paul Byington and Harold Byington, 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Jay, daughter Julie, son Clint, brothers Donald and Dale, and sisters May and Ramona.
Funeral services for Bonnie will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 285 2nd St, Ririe ID. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. There will be a viewing held at the chapel on Tuesday evening, January 23, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
