Bonnie Jorgensen, 98, of Idaho Falls, died November 18, 2008, at her home.
She was born April 27, 1910, in Salem, Idaho, to James Fredrick Shirley and Sarah Virgin Shirley.
She attended schools in Sugar Salem and graduated from Sugar Salem High School. On November 20, 1936, she married Otto Lehi Jorgensen, in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. She was employed as a cashier and clerk at J.C. Penney, and worked in the office at M.H. King, both in Rexburg. She was an officer driver for military personal while she and her husband lived in Texas. With her husband she owned and managed Main Theatre in Garland, Utah, and engaged in theatre work at the Gem and Main Theatres in Rigby as well as Firth Theater.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Young Women’s and Primary organizations. She was also an Officiator in the Logan and Idaho Falls LDS Temples for 10 years. Bonnie enjoyed golf and was a member of the Ladies Utah Northern Division Golf Team and was a Golf Pro.
She is survived by a sister, Ada Moss, of Idaho Falls, a brother, Rodney (Patty) Shirley, of Salem, Idaho, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Shirley, of St. Anthony. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2008 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
