On July 6, 2023, beloved wife and mother Bonnie Pearl Bondurant Larsen of Rexburg, Idaho passed away at 81 years of age.

Bonnie was born in Winslow, Arizona to Elwin Leroy Bondurant and Ruby Alice Randall on August 4, 1941. Growing up in Winslow and Pine, AZ, she developed a love for Native American art, artifacts and architecture which became a staple of her home décor. She was quite fond of animals, especially cats, and enjoyed fishing and camping.

Bonnie had a keen mind and was the valedictorian of her high school class. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, and served in Brazil as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. By the time she graduated from BYU, she was fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Bonnie’s love of learning lasted her entire life. She was always reading, had an unmatched vocabulary, and loved crossword puzzles and word games. National Geographic and archeological magazines were a permanent fixture in her living room.

Bonnie loved to dance, and fittingly met the love of her life at an Arizona Club dance while at BYU. She married Dee Edwin Larsen on August 27, 1965 after a lengthy courtship sandwiched around their church missions. Bonnie and Dee raised four children—Benton, Katrina, Kendall, and Randall—whom Bonnie taught and nurtured as a wonderful mother. She cooked, and sewed, worked alongside them, and helped them with their homework. She molded them into die-hard BYU fans through her love of BYU football and basketball. She modeled the value of continued learning, faithfully attending BYU Education Week for many years. Most importantly, she taught them about Jesus Christ by precept and example.

Bonnie was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. She taught early morning seminary for many years, and was a gifted teacher with a deep knowledge and love of the gospel. Bonnie served as a temple worker in several temples, and served four missions with her eternal companion, Dee. Her faithful service set an example for her children and grandchildren and blessed the life of her family.

Bonnie and Dee’s life adventure led them from Provo to San Jose, California, then to Rexburg and Shelley, Idaho. Later they would live in Spokane, Washington, Lake Oswego and Tigard, Oregon, before retiring in Rigby, Idaho, with a final move to Rexburg. Bonnie is survived by her four children; Benton Edwin Larsen (Sydni) of Highland, UT, Katrina Pearl Peterson (Jeffery) of Rigby, ID, Kendall Bondurant Larsen (Amy) of Lewisville, TX, and Randall Oler Larsen of Carrollton, TX; her sisters Virginia “WeeGee” Snell of Cave Creek, AZ and Barbara Bondurant (Steve) of Chandler, AZ; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Dee.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Holbrooke Stake Center, 4012 E 200 North, Rigby, ID 83442. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at that same location from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Interment will be at the Pioneer Cemetery.
