Byron Franklin Cassity, age 82, of St. Anthony died Monday, July28, 2003, at the Rexburg Nursing Home. Byron was born May 13, 1921 in Groveland, Indiana the son of Ambrose D. Cassity and Laura Eggers Cassity. Byron was raised and attended school in Coatesville, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was a member of the V.F.W. in St. Anthony. Byron worked as a long haul truck driver, a dairy farmer in South Dakota, a mechanic in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Lee Center, Minnesota . He also ran the Targhee Trailer court and Trading Post. Byron married Lula Mae Williams on June 15, 1960 in Green River, Wyoming. He enjoyed reading, fixing cars, watching car racing and keeping his hands busy. Survivors include his wife Lula Mae Cassity of St. Anthony, daughter Rebecca Colleen (Saleh) El-Kher of St. Anthony, Sister, Doris Devine of Carson, California. 2 Grandchildren.
Byron was preceded by his parents, 2 sons, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm and prior to the service on Saturday from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm. Burial will follow the service at the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
