Byron T. Sorensen lived only 22 short years, but his sense of humor, big heart and carefree spirit enriched the lives of all those who knew him. To his numerous friends he was their strength, confidant and someone they could always count on. To his mother, Cherie Sorensen he was her favorite comedian, her pride and joy, and the cause of some of her gray hair. To his father, Todd Sorensen, he was farming, camping, hunting partner, and fellow music enthusiast. To his sister, Paigh Sorensen Jones, he was her best friend, worst enemy, partner in “crime” and unconditional support system. To Grandma Taylor and Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen, he was a respectful and devoted grandson, and the apple of their eyes. And to his dog, Leo, he was a loyal, kind and loving master.
Byron was born on July 17, 1991, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School in 2009. He joined the United States Marines immediately after graduation, but was not able to pursue his dream of serving his country due to a hip injury sustained in a snowboarding accident.
Byron studied art education at the Art Institute of Salt Lake City, where he refined his artistic ability and love of drawing and design. He was a talented and creative artist and had hoped to eventually have a career in animation.
Byron died in a tragic automobile accident on September 23, 2013, leaving behind many who loved and will miss him.
Survivors include his mother, Cherie Sorensen, father, Todd Sorensen, (Chris Mclntosh), sister, Paigh Jones (Justin Jones), grandparents, Gayle Taylor and Gloria and Mike Sorensen, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many, many friends.
