Carey Peter Barber age 91, of Rigby, died at his home Wednesday, August 8, 2007.
Pete was born August 22, 1915, at Sunbeam, Colorado a son of Clarence O. Barber and Catherine Elizabeth Farrel Barber. He was raised and attended schools in the Colorado area. January 26, 1951 he married Mary Arlene Lundquist in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized December 30, 1958, in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife owned several businesses including Barber’s Drive Inn and Queen of Hearts Floral. He enjoyed wood working, music, and writing historical reminiscences of early western Colorado.
Pete is survived by two daughters, Paula M. (Lelini) Ita of Bountiful, UT, and Jennie A. Barber of Orem, UT, two sons, Charles R. (Karen) Barber of Rigby, and Richard N. (Lenna) Barber of Draper, UT, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, a son, one sister and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Annis Little Butte Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Rigby Senior Citizens Center.
