Carl Ralph Hoggan; 69, of Hamer, Idaho died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 in Idaho Falls at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Carl was born May 14, 1936 at Rexburg, Idaho the son of Ralph Harrison Hoggan and Mary Isabella Walker Hoggan. Attended schools in Lorenzo, Rigby, Medicine Lodge and then back to Rigby where he graduated from Rigby High School in 1954. While in High School he worked at the grain elevators in Rigby, Idaho. In 1955 he served in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He married Ivy Elaine Crystal on June 5, 1958 at Garfield, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He farmed and ranched in the Hamer, Dubois and Medicine Lodge areas. He owned Hoggan Rodeo Company since 1982. He was active in the West Jefferson Lions Club. He served as District 39 E Governor and every position in the club. He received the Melvin Jones fellowship award in 1986 and served as president of the Holly Water Canal Company in the Hamer Terreton area. He served as vice president of the Mud Lake Telephone Co-op. Carl was the Jefferson County Cattleman of the year in 1995. He was inducted into the Eastern Idaho Horseman’s Hall of fame in 2001. He was the chairman of the board of the Eastern Idaho Rodeo Association in 1988 and was the producer director in 1986,1987 and 1989. Carl was the past director of the Idaho-Oregon Sight and Hearing association. Carl was awarded stock contractor of the year in November of 2005 at Winnemucca, Nevada for the National Sr. Pro Rodeo Association, and was awarded the stock contractor of the year for the IMPRA in 2000 and 2004. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hoggan of Hamer, two daughters, Crystal (Nathan) Carpenter of Arco, Nancy (Wade) Durham of Hamer, two sons, Jay C. (Shelley) Hoggan of Terreton, and David R. (Sondra) Hoggan of Hamer, Idaho, one sister Ellen Laird of Dubois, and one brother Lynn H. Hoggan of Medicine Lodge, Idaho, and 7 grandchildren. Carl was preceded by his parents, one brother Max and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Terreton LDS Stake Center with Bishop Wade Yearsley officiating. The family will meet with friends Friday, December 16, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Terreton LDS Stake Center and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
