Carla Ann Steinhauer

October 10, 1946 — September 13, 2023

Carla Ann Steinhauer was born on October 10th, 1946 in Nashua, New Hampshire. She died peacefully in her sleep on September 13th, 2023 just weeks prior to her 77th birthday.

Carla was full of life and never met a stranger she didn’t like. She had a way of making anyone in her path feel as if they were meant to run into her. She would help anyone in need. No questions asked. No judgement made.

Her father was a wild animal trainer who immigrated to the United States from Germany. As a young girl, Carla spent many years near her father’s side working with, and caring for wild and exotic animals. She even had a pet chimpanzee growing up.

Perhaps it was Carla’s love for animals that led her to find her “person” Eric Steinhauer. The two were married for nearly forty years and spend the majority of their life together living in Southern California. They were both in the medical field. When they met, Carla was an Emergency Room Nurse and Eric an EMT. Together, they shared a love for falconry.

It wasn’t until five years ago, they packed up and moved to Rigby, Idaho. Here, they relished in the simple joy of taking drives around the mountains and near the rivers, looking at the wildlife and appreciating the sheer beauty of their new surroundings.

Carla had never been happier. She made new friends and built meaningful relationships. She never wanted to leave Idaho. For Carla, it was one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Carla is survived by her loving husband Eric, her oldest daughter Lea Lambert, her son Marc Lambert, her youngest daughter Amber Steinhauer, her brother Michael Neuffer and his wife Joann Neuffer. She also leaves behind a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her deeply.
